I am Jim Taylor and I want to thank you for your confidence in me as your mayor for 8 years.  After long consideration, I have decided to retire from service and not seek re-election in 2017.  I want to enjoy life as a citizen and focus on other interests going forward.  Thank you for your friendship and support of my leadership during my 5 terms on Council and 4 terms as Mayor of Matthews.  Matthews is a wonderful place to live, work, play and raise our families.. We need to protect what we have worked so hard to achieve while always striving to improve as we move forward.  I ask you to support candidates that will continue the focus on the long term vision we have for Matthews.  All great things take time and effort.  

In my 23 years of Public Service to Matthews, I have clearly demonstrated my ability to relate to a wide variety of people and understand diverse issues. I am always eager to support wonderful activities and programs for our great town .

I believe in honesty and accountability. I have never dodged or sidestepped any issue, especially those tough or difficult issues which are crucial to ensure that Matthews will continue to be known as the best of the best.  I encourage you to support future leaders that support these same values.
